Angel Falls
Today

Leviathan found herself facing the gigantic, circular steel door and folded her arms across her sizable, bare chest. She had delved deep into a maze of subway tunnels to get here, trekking through what felt like miles of dark lanes just beneath the city. It was several inches thick and looked like it could withstand a mortar fired directly into it. It bothered her only slightly more that the symbol of the front resembled a tarnished Schutzstaffel insignia, but then again Angel Falls had been known to harbor a terrorist organization of neo-Nazis. It was also the city where she had tracked Jedidiah and his arcane order, or whatever they fancied themselves. Self-important, ego-driven madmen in a doomsday cult that had access to books and knowledge fanatics like that had no business acquiring. She had been tracking them up and down the coast and all of her interrogations and persistence had led her to this final door. She knew they were behind it, her symbiote, Levios, had been whispering it to her. It could sense the powerful artifacts they had gathered inside. She took a deep breath. It was time to knock.

Her first blow dented the titanic door inwards, but it held. Inside she could hear the panicked voices, the scurrying of feet as the cultists tried desperately to hide or discuss a way out of the increasingly hopeless situation. All except one voice, the leader she presumed, who kept chanting.

"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!"

Leviathan reared back and smashed her fist into the door a second time, throwing it violently off its hinges and sending it crashing to the floor. Inside was a bizarre sight of a church-like sanctum full of dusty, neglected Nazi symbols and tattered flags illuminated by candlelight. The cultists were all robed and scrawny, pointing and gibbering excitedly as she climbed through the dust-clouded opening. She chuckled, pointing back out at them, her expression stern.

"Alright, playtime is over.” Her bare hips had the slightest sway to them as she strode forward on hulking legs, her boots stamping heavily. “You boys only get one chance. Give me back the relics you stole and maybe you get out of here with only a broken arm or leg. Except for you..."

She pointed towards the sacrilegious pulpit the leader stood behind, not ceasing his menacing incantation in a low voice. He was holding the tome, bound in human flesh close to his chest.

"Mglw'nafh fhthagn-ngah cf'ayak 'vulgtmm vugtlag'n!"

"...you knock that shit off right now and give me that book."

In response the wild eyed man met her steely gaze and pulled a curved, ornate dagger from behind his back. He nodded twice dementedly and continued the incantation.

"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthugha Fomalhaut n'gha-ghaa naf'lthagn!!!"

Leviathan took a few steps towards him, shoving the cowering men out of her way, throwing them across the sanctum with ease. Before she got within a few steps of Jedidiah, he held the blade aloft and plunged the tip deep into his own throat, opening it up with a spray of crimson that splattered over the pulpit. He continued to meet her eyes with his own which glowed with the light of madness until he crashed to the floor and they rolled up into his head. Alex sighed and rubbed her temples. Madman and fanatic to the last. She continued forward and reached down to collect the now blood-stained tome as it lay open on the ground next to him. As her metallic fingertips touched it, the hairs on her arms stood up. There was a rumbling sound, from deep underground...a vibration through the floor that began to shake the very foundation of the old subway line. The cultists screamed, broke and fled out the opening in wild abandon as the noise and vibrations intensified. Somewhat off balance from the violent shaking of the earth, Alex was inclined to agree with their course of action. Whatever was coming....whatever the cultist leader had summoned with his final breaths, it was going to be here soon...and it was going to be big.

She took off at a sprint, hoping she would make it above ground before whatever it was make that impossible.

The Soviet Superwoman soared above the city at sound-breaking speed, hoping she wouldn't be too late arriving on the scene. As she got closer to her destination, she pondered on where could a creature of this size have possibly come from so quickly, and why did it only attack just now? Hopefully, she could find answers to those questions later. For now, her main concern was dealing with the threat.

She could see the smoke rising in the distance. The thick black cloud lifted into the sky, followed by glimmers of fire and ash. She heard each footstep the creature took, booming in her ears, giving her a pretty good estimate on just how large and heavy this monster was. Perhaps this meant she could use her speed to her advantage, catch the titanic beast off guard and injure it to the point where it couldn't stomp around the city anymore. It was the only idea she had going into the conflict, saving as many lives as possible.

Another unearthly roar from the monster followed, the force so powerful that Olga was given push-back as she cut through the sky, finally landing. The monster's path of destruction wasn't hard to miss. She finally saw it in all its unbelievable glory, her mouth dropping for a moment. It was truly gigantic, easily about 350 feet tall, looking like a combination of all the worst features of both a dragon and an octopus, given a caricature of human form.

Before she could make her move, another sound erupted in her ear. Just then, two sonic jets flew right past the superheroine and began to open fire on the creature in the distance. Hundreds of bullets shot into the giant, squid-like creature. But this seemed to do nothing, as the jets flew past…or at least, one of them did.

One of the jets failed to see the writhing tentacles of the monster before it was too late. The tentacle lashed against the wing, setting the plane ablaze and hurtling towards the ground out of control.

Reacting quickly, she flew towards the falling jet, desperately trying to avoid the debris falling from the passing monster as it turned, clouding the area in a blanket of thick smoke. Thankfully, Olga could see where she was going, as she managed to catch up with the jet, rip off the protective windshield and quickly take off the pilot's seat belt. Careful not to give the pilot whiplash, the Russian heroine let the pilot ascend out of his seat before catching him, just as the plane crashed into a close-by building. The Soviet Superwoman protected the pilot from the flames of the crashed vehicle. Gliding down as quickly and safely as he could, she placed the dazed pilot on the ground.

''Are you okay? Can you understand me?'' She asked.

It took a moment for her to get a response, as the pilot was still trying to keep himself from collapsing. Finally, he looked to be collected and nodded.'

“Okay, find shelter, and help anyone else if you can!''

The pilot did as instructed, and sprinted off in the opposite direction of the monster.

Olga quickly scanned the area, making sure there were no more trapped survivors in the area. While she didn't see any civilians in this area she did witness a curious individual swinging towards the monster. She was a huge woman, easily about the same size and mass as she was herself...perhaps more so. She had a short, butch haircut and was barely clothed. What little she was wearing gave off an odd sheen in the sun as she moved past the somewhat taken aback supeheroine. Another heroine here to help, even an unknown one, was more than welcome.

Lifting herself off the ground with every bit of force she had in her, she flew towards the creature and fired a burst of lasers from her eyes into the creature's stomach. And for the first time since it emerged from underground, the creature actually felt an attack. It roared out, more in surprise than pain, as it looked down to see where its attacker was.

The Soviet Superwoman dived lower towards the ground, hoping that the monster would lose sight of her. As the great beast scoped the area, looking for whatever attacked him, Olga soared back up into the sky from behind the creature. Once again, she fired another blast of her laser-vision up along the monster's back.

The beast cried out in surprise and staggered forward in an attempt to turn around and find whatever was striking him. As its body turned, it flattened the buildings to its side. A gust of wind blowing across the streets, ripping trees from the ground and sending cars flying off the road. The monster's head looked up, and that's when he finally saw its attacker, hovering in the sky above. It bewildered the ancient evil to see a human fly in the air without the need for any assistance or weaponry like the other humans. It didn't matter though, as this powerful human had fought back, and in its eldritch mind…that meant he was being challenged.

Olga could see that her lasers were having little effect, unfortunately, that meant if she had any hope of wounding this creature, she would have to get in close. As she was about to rocket towards the monster's face, the other heroine appeared, rearing back a tight fist and catching the beasts by surprise with a hook to the side of its head. Too quick for the creature to react, it could only try to roll with the tremendous blow. It was the other human...the one from before. It shocked the beast to have a human not only lay hands on him but for that strike to actually hurt. Two humans now battled it for supremacy!

CRACK! Leviathan threw another punch, causing the titanic monster to stumble backwards. It dug its leg into the ground to try and keep balance. Trying to go on the counter, the cosmic horror turned its head and opened its beaked-mouth wide, before snapping its jaw shut. Leviathan managed to avoid the bite and tried to swing around the creature's head once more. The beast never lost sight of her, following the heavily-muscled woman as she moved around, looking for an opening.

Leviathan was so distracted just trying to work out how to attack, that she was almost taken by surprise as the creature's giant hand swung in her direction. Reacting quickly, the Soviet Superwoman managed to fly right in between the fingers, pushing Leviathan out of the way as the hand of the beast veered into another building, cutting through it like a chainsaw would kindling. As its arm dug into the crumbling structure, Olga coasted up its arm, firing more laser as she went up.

Noticing his other opponent fly up his arm, the creature once again attempted to bite at its foe. Before its jaw closed, Olga lifted herself over the creature's head, closing her fists together and bringing them crashing downwards. She clobbered the monster on top of the head and for a brief moment, it seemed like the Soviet heroine had won, as the beast's body shuddered and began to fall until it was almost to its hands and knees. But, while its body lowered to the ground, its tentacles veered upwards, catching Olga off guard.

She was hit full-force by the creature's tail, sending her flying backwards across the city and crashing into a large tower, smashing through the windows and walls before coming out of the other side. She tried to stop herself and regain control of her flight. Descending slightly, she was finally able to stop himself from falling uncontrollably anymore. The wind had been taken out of her, as she coughed up a bit of blood. It felt like several of her ribs had been broken and her breathing as ragged. She couldn't afford to take another blow like that.

Before she even had a chance to think of a new strategy, she saw something fly over the tower she had just crashed through. Whatever it was, it smashed through the top of the tower and headed right for her. Flying as quickly as she could, she dived underneath the improvised missile and avoided the falling debris from the tower. That's when she noticed that it was a giant billboard, probably ripped right off from the stand it was once positioned on, that had been thrown at her.

As if that wasn't bad enough, the enormous creature then smashed his way through the entirety of the tower in a shower of steel, concrete, and glass, its giant hand pivoting towards the injured Superwoman. With no time to dodge, She decided to brace for the impact. Leviathan swung back downwards from one of her symbiotic lashes, hoping to intercept the beast. Curling her hand into a fist, she punched at the monster's descending hand in the wrist. Their blow's collided with enough force that it almost knocked both of them back, with Leviathan falling towards the ground and the ancient horror almost getting knocked off his very feet. The shock waves shattered and cracked the city around them, and ripping apart the street below.

Thinking to use the creature's own weight against it, the Soviet Superwoman shot forward and pushed herself against the monster's leg. It roared in defiance and tried to kick his opponent away, however, Olga wasn't giving up that easily, as she pushed as hard as she could, hoping to topple the beast. She could feel that the monster was beginning to lose balance. All she needed was one last, big push.

Putting all his strength into his legs, the great beast charged forward and aimed his leg into a row of apartments nearby, with Olga crashing into them as she continued to hold onto its leg. With a terrible grunt, the monster ploughed his leg further into the apartment buildings in an attempt to crush his tiny foe. His jaw ajar, belting out another roar believing himself the victor of this right…until Leviathan shot out from behind the apartment buildings yelling loudly as she pulled back her fist. She landed another hard punch across the monster's jaw and swung back up into the air with the aid of her symbiote, tendrils lashing out like a swing-line.

The creature stumbled backwards while The Soviet Superwoman floated in the air breathing heavily. At this moment, even a few seconds of respite was like heaven to her. She watched as the horror regained his footing, but the creature did not retaliate straight away. It, too, was breathing heavily and remained unmoved, as tar like blood began to drip from its mouth. Olga looked on with great interest, it was like the monster was still in awe about how far a pair of humans had pushed it. To the point of making it bleed.

However, any hope that Olga had of actually managing to beat this thing was put on hold, as something else caught her attention. The tentacles began to glow blue, illuminating like fire. The rest of his... face then started to light up, going along with quickening pace until it reached the top of his head, his eyes glowing a lustrous blue. Then, the creature's head turned to face the Russian heroine, blue smoke emitting from its beaked mouth…then an eruption of flames jetted towards the supersoldier.

Taken completely by surprise, Olga tried to hold it back with her laser-vision. The two beams crashed into one another, struggling for power. The heat was so intense from their blasts, that everything within their area was either blown back from the force or started to melt into the cracked, broken ground. The cosmic horror advanced forward slowly, hoping to get the best of his opponent. While Olga's laser vision fired a more concentration blast, she couldn't keep it up for very long as her eyes began to sting and burn from the sensation. The Russian was blown backwards, sent spinning and crashing back into the broken concrete.

Hoping to surprise the creature, Leviathan re-appeared and quickly swung in low to the ground, underneath the blue flames of monster. Managing to avoid the creature's breath weapon, shooting her tendril into the monstrosity’s skin and sling shotted herself straight into its stomach like a canonball. She struck the monster over and over again, and some more with furious punches trying to push it backwards.

"You are one tough, ugly son of a bitch!" Leviathan roared as she pounded her fists into the creature.

The massive beast roared yet again, trying to direct his fiery breath at Leviathan. He did so, hitting both her and himself with his own scorching blue fire. However, Leviathan didn't stop with her punches. The pain was excruciating, as her skin began to burn and boil, but she still didn't stop her relentless assault on the beast. She was so caught up in her frenzy; she failed to notice the beast pull back its arm before swinging it right for her. Landing direct contact, Leviathan was sent flying back towards the street looking out over the ocean. She plummeted to the ground, crashing into it and leaving a long crater in her wake before coming to a stop.

As the news helicopters above captured the amazing footage of what was going on, the world held its breath in stunned silence, as the unknown superheroine lay motionless on the ground. That is until Leviathan's arm started to move, then the other, and she was finally able to lift herself up off the ground shifting her body around so that she could face the beast.

"Didn’t even feel it!" she boasted, wincing in pain as blood poured out of her mouth and her wounds desperately tried to knit closed.

Meanwhile, the beast had reeled his head back before letting out the mightiest roar he could, shaking the very foundations of the city. The Soviet Superwoman rushed forward, her tattered cape ripped off of her suit, blowing away into the distance. She zoomed towards the monster, whose tentacles began to froth and glow blue once again. If it was the same as last time then Olga knew what was about to happen next. She had to end this fight right now!

The horror unleashed his terrible breath weapon onto Olga, who proceeded to rocket through the flames. She cried out fearlessly and burst through the monster's fiery breath, punching it across the face yet again, before diving underneath and putting all her efforts into one last plan. As she went around the monster, which tried to turn to keep up with her, she flew towards the side of the beast and grabbed hold, digging her fingers into the terrible beast's skin and pushed with every bit of strength she had left.

As the horror tried to claw at his opponent, he was at an angle that made it impossible to land any direct contact. The monster was pushed back down the street towards the sea. Its gigantic feet up turning the ground as it was pushed closer and closer. It was all or nothing now, as Olga raised her arms while holding onto her monstrous foe. It felt like her arms had turned to metal, and her muscles screamed agonizingly while trying to comprehend the sheer weight of this creature. She was trying to lift the creature right off of the ground.

Its feet were now dangling in the air, its tentacles swishing about all over the place as Olga tried her best to hold the monster up as she flew further towards the sea. She wouldn't be surprised if every bone in her body was fractured or broken at this point, everything on her hurt so badly, but she no longer cared, she just had to hold out for a few more moments. If she could get the creature out far enough, there may be the possibility it would go into the further depths of the ocean and drown, out of harm's way.

All of a sudden, the creatures eyes and mouth began to glow blue once again. Olga held her breath, ready for the impact and the intense pain, but it never came. Instead, the mystery heroine had appeared. Leviathan had tuck the creature with her tendril again and pulled herself right to its face to pummel it with fists the size of frozen turkeys. The monster was being pulped as the big, buff woman was showing it no mercy and no quarter. The body was becoming like dead weight under her withering assault. The Soviet Superwoman could feel the shock waves from each blow reverberating through the monster she held.

"You must get free NOW!" Olga shouted to the larger woman. The stranger heard, nodded once and leapt off the monster, her jump carrying her all the way back to shore where her landing caused a small crater.

The Soviet Superwoman tossed the creature forward and watched as it crashed down into the ocean and sunk beneath the waves and current.

Drizzle from the large splash washed her face, mixing in with the blood and sweat that covered her. She was so exhausted that she was just trying to keep herself from not plunging into the sea with the creature. Now, she waited to see what would happen next. Under the sea, she could see the monster sink lower and lower into the depths until she could no longer see it anymore. Satisfied that the threat was over for now, she turned and made her way back towards the city. Leviathan was standing on the beach, near the surf, hands on her hips. Olga landed nearby, stumbling slightly.

"You're a tough customer, I gotta admit." Leviathan said, clapping. "Strong as hell too. I'd seen you on the television once, didn't think I'd actually get to meet you. damn glad for the assist, taking it down myself would have been an all day affair."

"I am Olga," the Soviet woman replied in her thick accent, extending her hand, "Good to meet a fellow heroine who knows the value of strength. Welcome to Angel Falls."

Leviathan took her hand and gripped it tightly. "I'm Levi...” she paused, pursing her lips thoughtfully before smiling brightly, “You can call me Alex."

"Alex, would you like to help me with the recovery and clean-up efforts. Whatever that was, it caused a lot of damage, people will need to be helped."

"I'm game, sure." Alex grinned, running a hand through her dual-toned, sweat-soaked hair. "Afterwards you can show me a nice place to eat in this city, hopefully that wasn't in the path of that thing."

"For helping with that nightmare, I will cook you a Russian meal myself. Perhaps you can give me some tips from your workout routine." Olga smiled back, "But first, many things to do. Can I give you a lift?"
