First came Nu52...:iconlesighplz:

Then a terrible Green Lantern movie...

A Wonder Woman film they can't get off the ground (but a porno company did):cdn03.cdn.thesuperficial.com/w…

And now...Ben Affleck is Batman. :iconthefuckplz:

Batman goes from Christian Bale to the guy who brought us Gigli, Pearl Harbor, & Daredevil. Is DC/Warner Bros just that clueless? Do they secretly work for Marvel? I'm no director and I would have cast Richard Armitage, Anson Mount or Josh Brolin 10x over before Affleck's name even hit my mind as a serious option.

I thoroughly enjoyed Man of Steel but is that it for DC? Is this the death knell of the company or am I being overly critical of the people that turned Heath Ledger into the perfect Clown Prince of Crime and made me believe Michael Keaton was Batman for a time?

You're being VERY overly critical.  Even Paul Dini, who WRITES THE COMIC, is endorsing Affleck as Batman.   But to your point:

Affleck as an actor now is much more mature than he was when he did Gigli, Daredevil and Pearl Harbor.  Watch his more recent works like Argo and The Town and see how much he has changed as an actor.

As for Daredevil, the problem with that film was not Affleck.  It was the script and the director.  The guy who wrote that film wrote the first Ghost Rider film with Nicholas Cage.  It doesn't matter as good or bad an actor is, a bad script will hinder a performance.

I've been a Batman fan for almost 35 years and I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt on this to the same people that, like you said, made me believe that Michael Keaton was Batman just for a bit and Heath Ledger was The Joker.

Another side note, with what I have heard talked about with the film, and potential future films in the franchise, I can see where Affleck would be the perfect choice for the role.
