Twas the Night Before Christmas...

It was a hot, sticky 70 something degrees in Angel Falls on Christmas Eve as Olga finished up her first round of patrols. The fact it was full moon combined with the heat had so far accounted for 2 attempted robberies, one attempted suicide, an attempted burglary, at least four attempted muggings, and a dog that had escaped from its owner that she helped save from oncoming traffic. The last one had been one of the robberies, a punk with a semi-automatic rifle trying to hold up a local convenience store. The owner had been so grateful about her saving his life and livelihood he offered her anything from his store. She had of course refused, but he insisted on giving her at least a beer since she looked a little rough. After exchanging Merry Christmas pleasantries (and waiting for the police to come and collect the perp), Olga took her American domestic 40 ounces and settled on a nearby rooftop. She took off her hot, heavy-feeling boots and laid them next to her as she finally got an opportunity to sit down. The city-scape was gorgeous, the entire city lit up for the holidays as evening descended, her toes flexing as she enjoyed the night air on them to the stuffy confines of her boots. Olga took a sip from the sweaty bottle. It was alright...not the best thing she had ever drank, but it was cold and refreshing if nothing else.

Mele Kalikimaka by Bing Crosby had crept into her head at this point (possibly because it was so hot out and it reminded her of the tropics) and she wanted more than anything else to get home and enjoy a wonderful Christmas evening with her wife and Beloved.

A siren began blaring a few blocks over, her sapphire eyes cutting in its direction. The moments respite was over unfortunately and the prospect of a silent night here in Angel Falls seemed further and further away.
